With the pacific ocean on our doorstep, there is so much Hawaiian food readily available. You absolutely have to have a tropical fruit platter, filled with pineapple, mangos, guava, melon and anything else in season. For themed food you can stick to kebab skewers, prawns, coconut and watermelon. Dependent on your colour theme you have the choice of either gold or pink lollies, popcorn and cakes.

If you are hosting a Luau to celebrate a birthday then a pineapple or coconut shaped cake is the perfect fit. Bake a round cake and carve it into the desired shape and cover it with fondant or perhaps even coloured coconut. If you are wanting to be a bit more creative you can choose to create a flamingo or carve your own Tiki cake.

Hawaiian Theme Party Games

You cant have a Hawaiian Luau without entertainment. While music played by guitars and ukuleles is more traditional, why not spoil your guests with some tropical themed party games. You could start with a hula hoop competition to see who can go the longest or a limbo. competition to see who can go the lowest. Instead of pass the parcel you could try a game of pass the coconut where whoever is left holding the coconut when the music stops is out.
